If you have an accessory rail on your handgun or rifle, you have loads of options for customizing and upgrading your weapon for your needs! Especially for self defensive purposes, this is particularly handy. If you need to defend your home and your family, we suggest reading through our review of the best Picatinny lasers on the market. We’ll let you know which one was our favorite at the end!
There are a lot of myths when it comes to using a laser or laser and flashlight combo. One of the biggest myths to work around is that a laser will give away your position to the offender. Sure, if you point your laser at someone intruding in your home, they may be able to see where you’re standing. However, they won’t have the time to react once you pull your trigger. The entire point of a laser is to acquire your target more quickly than if you were to only use a flashlight or iron sights. If your position is given away, it really doesn’t matter, so don’t let that deter you from investing in a good quality Picatinny laser attachment. There are many affordable options that you can buy that will ultimately be a life saving purchase!
Materials – Truglo’s Micro laser is a compact and low budget option for those who don’t need to most high-performing laser. You can choose between a red or green laser. Both emitted lasers are a Class II product with a <1mw power output. Use a simple touch button to turn the laser into constant on or off, which is ambidextrous. To preserve the battery life, the laser will automatically turn off after five minutes of inactivity. The micro laser easily attaches to standard Picatinny or Weaver style rails. It’s best for pistols or subcompact weapons. The entire laser with its housing will only add a couple ounces of weigh to your weapon.
Performance – Clearly, the most appealing aspect of this laser from Truglo is its compact size. Compared to many other laser options for your handgun or rifle, it truly is significantly smaller and very lightweight. You should be able to find a holster that is easily accommodating with your laser attached to your weapon, if you’re installing it on a pistol, which can be more difficult with laser and flashlight combos. It’s easy to use and simple to install. On the other hand, this is one of the few lasers on the market that surprisingly does not offer a Class III laser. Not everyone needs the most powerful laser available, but it seems a little odd to not offer that feature when it’s so commonly seen. At the end of the day, this product is very affordable and conveniently sized.
What we say – This is the best Picatinny laser for those who can’t spend $100+ on a laser or for those who own subcompact weapons with accessory rails. There is a green laser option as well, but it is significantly more expensive than the red laser offering.
- Very small and lightweight

Materials – This option is a laser and flashlight combo. The housing is constructed of aircraft grade aluminum and solid steel components. It can be attached to any standard Picatinny rail on a pistol or rifle. A green laser is emitted, which offers the brightest capabilities allowed by law. It is a Class IIIR laser product and can be adjusted for windage and elevation. The flashlight component offers a 200 lumen light beam. Utilize the switches to toggle between activating the flashlight only, the laser only, or the flashlight and laser combination. Included with this option is a set of two CR123 batteries.
Performance – From here on out, the remaining options in this review will be laser and flashlight combos! Ade Advanced Optics is also a very affordable choice. It also has the Class III laser, which is the most powerful for civilian use and it is what is seen usually with handgun and rifle lasers. The green laser is great for day time use, but it’s also fairly visible at night. When combined with the flashlight, you have a lifesaving duo to assist you in the dark. On the other hand, a 200 lumen flashlight is not particularly powerful. Don’t expect to see long distances with the flashlight. However, it will illuminate small rooms or tight spaces without a problem.
What we say – This is the best Picatinny rail laser flashlight combo for those who think they will mostly be using this option during the day time with only a little nighttime use.
- Laser and flashlight combo
- Class III green laser
- Batteries included
- 200 lumen flashlight not incredibly bright
- This laser offers the brightest green laser allowed by Law, non-handheld class 3R laser...

Materials – LaserTac’s laser and flashlight combo is constructed within aircraft grade aluminum housing, which is said to be shock proof, weather proof, and dust proof. The on and off activation switches are ambidextrous. You can select between constant on laser only, constant on flashlight only, as well as a laser and flashlight combo with constant on or strobing effect. The green laser emits a Class III beam, and the flashlights emits 250 lumens of white light. The laser light combo easily installs to any standard Picatinny rail, but you must have a minimum barrel length of four inches on your pistol or rifle. Included with this product are two CR123 batteries, instruction manual, remote switch, and allen wrench.
Performance – This is the only laser and flashlight combo within this review that offers four modes instead of three. It’s the only option that let’s you use a strobing light in tandem with the laser. We love this mode for self defense purposes because it’s one of the most effective ways to deter an offender. This option also has the brightest flashlight beam offered within the review. What we don’t like very much is the remote switch, which attaches with a cord. Remote switches can tend to get in the way or become a little inconvenient, although not everyone feels this way. Despite that small set back, LaserTac’s tactical accessory combines the most powerful laser and light for a wonderful deal.
What we say – This is the best Picatinny rail laser flashlight combo for those who truly value the strobing mode. However, it’s also for those who want the best of the best and the strongest lasers and flashlights.
- Class III laser and 250 lumen flashlight
- Four activation modes
- Shock proof construction
- Remote switch with cord can get in way
- 2 IN 1 COMBO - The Lasertac CL7-G is a 2 in 1 combo laser that features 4 mode selections...
- ROBUST CONSTRUCTION - Aircraft Grade Aluminum mini-sized construction that is also...
- AMBIDEXTROUS - Easy to use on/off switches conveniently located on either side of the unit
Materials – Finally, the Streamlight laser and flashlight combo is very compact and lightweight. It’s less than three inches in length and less than three ounces in weight. It can attach to the majority of full sized handguns, compact, and subcompact weapons with Picatinny accessory rails. The quick detach mount can be easily snapped on and tightened to the rail. The C4 LED technology allows you to utilize a Class III red laser beam and a 125 lumen flashlight. With the ambidextrous switch, choose between using only the laser, only the flashlight, or a combination of the two in constant on.
Performance – Similar to the first option within this review, Streamlight’s line of TLR lasers are very compact and conveniently sized. If you have a subcompact pistol, this would be a fantastic option for you. It does include the flashlight, so it still may be a little difficult to find an accommodating holster, but they’re definitely out there on the market. Streamlight offers some of the best and most advanced technology available for weapon accessories. This is also one of the few laser light combos that you can find online with a quick detach installation as well!
What we say – This is the best Picatinny rail laser flashlight combo for those who want a guarantee their laser won’t fizzle out on them any time soon. However, it’s also the most expensive option within this review.
- C4 LED technology
- Fits compact and subcompact weapons
- Quick detach mounting
- Most expensive option
- Ultra lightweight and compact
- C4 LED technology
- Ambidextrous momentary/steady On-Off switch
Our Favorite Picatinny Laser
Our favorite Picatinny laser accessory for this review was the Ade Advanced Optics Tactical Green Laser Sight. While we would have loved to go with the option from LaserTac, we just couldn’t get over the remote switch. Especially when attached to a pistol, the remote will just be in the way. Ade Advanced Optics offers a very reasonable laser and flashlight combo that will be great for day or night time use. A 200 lumen flashlight should satisfy most people’s needs just fine, so there really isn’t anything to complain about! It will attach to basically any handgun you own with an accessory rail, so it’s worth it for everyone to consider buying this Picatinny laser choice.
