If you own one of the most popular models of Glocks: the Glock 19, then you’re likely requiring the right accessories for some proper home defense or tactical uses.
We’ve put together a review of some of the best Glock 19 laser sights on the market. At the end, we’ll let you know what we think is the best Glock laser for the everyday gunowner.
Our biggest caution amongst buyers reading this review:
If you own a Gen 4 Glock, your choices will be much more limited.
We did our best to provide reviews for different types of Glock owners based on budget, model, and basic preferences, and we’ve included a laser sight option for Gen 4 owners. That being said, we think we’ve picked Glock 19 laser sights that will satisfy most gunowners.
Materials – The LaserLyte Laser Sight is universal amongst all Glocks. It’s a compact and lightweight laser that is installed on the rear of your Glock, and it’s made of heavy duty high carbon steel. It provides a single red dot that can be in constant on mode or a pulsing mode. It’s activated by an ambidextrous on/off button, and it has an automatic shut off after six minutes of not being used. This Glock laser doesn’t interfere with any existing modifications to your Glock, and it doesn’t even weigh half of an ounce. LaserLyte also provides a one year limited warranty.
Performance – This options is the most simplistic and standard red dot laser we have featured in this review. It’s minimally designed and simply gets the job done for you and your Glock. We like that the compact size and weight doesn’t interfere at all with any other part of our Glocks, and it’s easy to holster without knocking around or damaging the laser sight. That being said, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a cheaper laser(compared to the other products on this list), and it probably won’t last forever – that may be why the warranty is only for a year. However, if your needs are basic, this is a handy little accessory to add to your Glock.
What we say – The LaserLyte Laser is a great option for anyone who has never purchased a laser for their Glock before or they just don’t know what extras they would be interested in. This is the cheapest option within our review, but considering the price you should definitely get your money out of this purchase.
- Cheap cost
- Very lightweight, no interference
- One year warranty
- Won’t last forever
- Fits all GLOCKs
- Integrated iron sight and laser
- Two Modes: Pulse and Constant
Materials – The Viridian Reactor 5 is especially designed for conceal carry pistols, thanks to its particularly small frame. The red laser 635nm wave length, which offers one of the brightest dot legally available to gunowners on the market for precision targeting. A great bonus is that this laser actually comes with a handy holster “Instant-on” hybrid holster. The holster is made of a glass reinforced nylon shell and comfortable leather. It’s worn OWB. The “Instant-On” holster will automatically activate your Viridian Reactor 5 every time your draw it, and it will turn it off whenever it is reholstered.
Performance – If you’re a fan of Viridian, then you’ll be a fan of this laser light and holster combo. That is, if you want an outside of waistband holster for your conceal carry, which we realize will limit some of its buyers. After all, if you already own a perfect holster for your Glock 19, the Reactor 5 probably isn’t the best choice on this list. Otherwise, we have nothing but wonderful things to say about this Glock 19 laser light. The Viridian Reactor 5 is incredibly bright and accurate, and it’s installed very comfortably in front of the trigger guard on your Glock. With this laser in place, you’ll bring your aiming to the next level, and you’ll feel confident defending your home.
What we say – If you’re willing to pay the price, then you’re making a good investment on this laser. The Viridian Reactor 5 is slightly more expensive than the first option this list, but remember, you’re getting a top of the line laser with a holster for that price. We realize this combo may not be for everyone, but it’s a great deal if you were looking for a holster anyway.

Materials – The Guide Red Rod Laser is made of aircraft grade aluminum (like most high quality scopes are) and comes with a Wolff spring replacing the stock guide rod on your Glock. The body of the laser will only add a couple of ounces to your gun’s total weight. All of the components of this laser sight are completely internal, so there’s no chance of any parts being damaged or broken off. Which might sound complicated at first is actually very easy to install. It takes a couple of minutes and you can do it yourself at home, no gun smith needed. The LaserMax Guide Rod laser doesn’t interfere with any other parts of your Glock, so you can use any other holster, tactical light, and grip that you already have. This laser has a constant on mode and a pulsating light mode.
Performance – No fancy gimmicks, no unnecessary features, this laser does exactly what it needs to do: improve your aim. The fact that it doesn’t change the overall look of your Glock, unlike all the other exterior lasers on this list, is definitely and advantage. After all every accessory you attach to your pistol makes it a little less compact. Most ideal though is that installing the laser is super easy and done in a couple of minutes. Keep in mind that this option only works with Gen 1-3.
What we say – Ultimately, this is a great addition to your Glock 19, however, the LaserMax Guide Rod Laser is what we would consider to be in the higher price range. If you’ve had a poor experience with cheaper lasers, and you have the cash, we’d easily suggest this purchase as a viable option for you. It does exactly what it needs to, and it should last quite a while since all of the components are internal.
- All internal components
- Won’t interfere with holster, grips, or lights
- Installation takes minutes
- Expensive cost
- Will not fit Gen 4 models
- Pulsating laser sight for faster target acquisition and re-acquisition
- Extremely rugged lightweight and completely internal
- Installation takes minutes with no gunsmith help needed
Materials – The Crimson Trace Grip Laser is a very unique and ergonomically designed laser light that is installed on the grip of your Glock instead of under the barrel or on the rear. It’s made of a combination of polymer and rubber for comfort. The small CR2025 batteries (which are included) allow for a slim design and they provide up to four hours of continuous laser light. The rear switch provides versatility and instant activation with a simple on / off mechanism. The red laser on the Crimson Trace puts out 5 megawatts of powerful laser light. This unique design specifically for Gen 4 Glocks offers the additional benefit of your hand protecting the outside components of the laser at all times, so you don’t have to worry about bumping it into something.
Performance – If you own a Glock 19 Gen 4 model, you’ve probably experienced many instances of popular Glock accessories not being available or properly fitting your model. Thankfully, Crimson Trace has come through with this option, which is made solely for Gen 4 models. There’s very little to complain about, except that this is another option that doesn’t exactly come cheap. If you prefer lasers that are installed over the trigger guard, you’ll be out of luck on that part too, but we personally find that a laser that can be activated with your thumb is much more ideal.
What we say – We find the price a little more justified on this one, since it’s designed specifically for Gen 4 models and it provides a unique and really unique style of laser. We even sifted through some other reviews, and it was really difficult to find any major complaints. If you own a Gen 4 Glock, you should absolutely consider this option.
- Designed specifically for Gen 4 Glocks
- Unique grip design
- Made of comfortable materials
- Grip design may not be ideal for everyone
- Master On/Off switch
- Class IIIA laser; 5mW or less
- Rear activated laser
Our Favorite Glock 19 Laser Sight
We decided that the best laser sight for Glock 19s is the LaserMax Guide Rod Laser. We realize this choice is at the more expensive end of this review, but the cheaper options, while not bad at all, offer either less quality or a laser that requires a specific holster that not everyone may enjoy. For the everyday gunowner, the LaserMax Guide Rod Laser is the best option that covers standard needs and will get the job done. We really like the all internal components and the fact that you won’t have to change any other accessories you may have already purchased for your Glock. A good red laser and a decent sight are one of those addons that deserves a good investment, so we think you can’t really go wrong biting bullet here and treat yourself with this one.
