The Beretta 92A1 is an all-around awesome gun to own. On the tactical side, it has the added accessory rail with a couple slots to accommodate lasers and flashlights. The dirt rail helps keep magazine maintenance utterly easy, so you can grab your weapon for defensive purposes as soon as you need to. The internal frame buffer makes your shots smooth and consistent. Any good pistol needs an equally good holster, so we put together our review of the best Beretta 92A1 holsters on the market.
Finding a holster that accommodates the 92A1 can be a little tricky. This is mainly because of the rail space added to the weapon; most holsters you find online will specifically state they were made for older models. However, a holster for Beretta 92A1 with rail attachments does exist, and we’ve included that here for you! That doesn’t rule out any other holsters – there are many reliable brands that can suit tactical needs, even if there isn’t room for your laser. Whether you’re looking for leather, kydex, polymer, or any other material, we assure you there is something out there that will fit to your 92A1.
Materials – This outside the waistband holster from DeSantis is made entirely of genuine leather, and it’s available to purchase in either all black or all tan. The leather has been molded specifically to the shape of your Beretta 92A1 handgun, and it has an additional retention screw at the trigger guard. A wide thumb break conceals the entire rear of the barrel, and it is secured with a snap closure. There are three belt loops, which allow the wearer to choose between a straight strong side carry or a forward cant. Reinforced stitching lines all three loops, which also help reinforce the molded leather at the trigger guard and along the barrel.
Performance – DeSantis easily makes one of the best Beretta 92A1 leather holsters available online, and the brand makes some of the best leather holsters overall. The molded material is nice and tight, and you know your handgun is going to fit very securely against your body. The three slot belt loops give you the opportunity to wear your holster a little high on your hip, or you can get that comfortable forward cant. The snap closure is certainly the icing on the cake for retention. This isn’t the best holster for quick draws, then, since there’s a thumb break and you might have to give a little jiggle to pull your pistol free. Obviously, there’s no extra rail space either.
What we say – This is the best selection for those who want a secure fit and aren’t so concerned with additional room for accessories on their handgun.
- Made with genuine leather
- Adjustable cant
- Secure fit in molded holster
- No extra rail space or wiggle room
Materials – Relentless Tactical offers another Beretta 92A1 leather holster that is USA made and genuine. It is also available in either all black or all tan. This three slot pancake outside the waistband holster offers two styles of cant as well, but there is a wide back panel that acts as a sweat guard. The leather is not molded, so there is additional space for a rail or installed accessories on your pistol. Stitching lines the entire outer edge of the holster, both front and back, as well as around your gun’s trigger guard and along the barrel. The muzzle is open ended.
Performance – This offering by Relentless Tactical is a much better leather option for someone who needs a holster for Beretta 92A1 with lights or rail attachments. There is plenty of space available for accessories without sacrificing the retention needed to keep your handgun in place. While this option shares a lot of similarities with the first choice (the material used, the style, the three slot system), Relentless offers some unique features. We appreciate the coverage in the back panel, which makes wearing this holster far more comfortable. The stitching may not be as fine-tuned as what DeSantis has to offer, it’s still in all the right places.
What we say – This is the best Beretta 92A1 holster for those who are less concerned with high retention and need space for their accessory rail to flourish. You’re still getting a high and tight fit from the pancake style.
- Three slot pancake style
- Space for rail attachments
- Protective leather exterior
- Less retention than molded leather
- PROUDLY HANDMADE IN THE USA! Made from genuine US cowhide leather.
- VERSATILE 3 SLOT PANCAKE DESIGN! Use straight drop or butt forward cant. Wear strong-side,...
- FITS OVER 80 GUNS INCLUDING: M&P SHIELD, GLOCK 17, 19, 26, SPRINGFIELD XDS/XDM. Plus many more...
Materials – A full length holster, this model from Blackhawk is designed to protect the entirety of your Beretta 92A1. A polymer belt clip has two hooks on the rear, allowing you to wear the holster straight at your strongest drawing side. You can also adjust it to a forward angle, if you’d like. A single screw is at the trigger guard, allowing for passive retention. Also included is the SERPA auto lock release button. Instead of fumbling with a thumb break, simply press the release button. When holstering your weapon, you’ll hear an audible click when it’s fully locked into place.
Performance – As we lean into the more tactical side of things, we all know Blackhawk offers their SERPA line, which is affordable and practical. The great thing about this line of holsters is that it’s almost impossible to find a handgun that can’t be accommodated by the brand. Our favorite feature of this style is that it essentially covers and protect the entire Beretta. While not necessary for everyone, it can be hard to find a decent holster that will do this. The auto lock button tends to be much faster and more convenient to use than a thumb break, and there’s no guess work when re-holstering. You won’t get the flexibility in your draw like you would with a leather or nylon holster, so make sure to practice a little with it first.
What we say – Blackhawk’s SERPA line is the best choice for gunowners with tactical in mind over self defense. It can be hard to beat that auto lock release button.
- Fully protects gun
- Auto lock release button
- Adjustable cant
- Less flexibility in drawing motion
- Passive retention detent adjustment screw
- SERPA Auto Lock release
- Full-length holster body protects rear sights
Materials – This holster from Safariland is made with the brand’s special SafariLaminate material, which is designed to withstand bumps, scratches, and stand up to a lot of wear and tear. The rotating hood was designed to be ambidextrous, so the wearer can switch between sides as needed. This rotation feature also enhances a smooth draw, instead of clinging onto your pistol. A snap closure thumb break keeps your Beretta 92A1 retained, as well as the retention screw near the bottom of the holster.
Performance – Although SafariLaminate isn’t particularly descriptive, this is one of the best alternatives for anyone in search of a Beretta 92A1 kydex holster. The ever-so-slightly flexible material is quite durable, and it takes to a unique shape on the exterior. The grooved pattern allows the holster to stay tight and close to your Beretta, but the curved edges reflect outside elements that would bump or bang against your weapon. It is certainly an interesting holster – it’s not the prettiest to look at. Safariland has focused much more on function and usefulness than appearance, which is certainly no deal breaker to many. Your money is going towards high quality protection and long years of use.
What we say – The Safariland Low-Ride holster is the best option for anyone looking for the protective capabilities of a kydex holster but wants full coverage of their pistol. The ambidextrous capabilities may also come in handy down the line.
- Ambidextrous wear
- Unique and protective exterior
- Rotation allows smooth draw
- Appearance a little out-of-the-box
- Fits: M9 92F or 92 Vertec w/ITI Mount, ILWLP, Module, M3, M6, M3X, M6X, TLR-1, TLR-2, Insight...
- Designed to fit the Beretta M9 or 92F pistol with or without a light or LAM unit
- Forward rotating hood allows for a smooth single-motion draw and greater protection against...
Our Favorite Beretta 92A1 Holster
We thought the best Beretta 92A1 holster in our review was the Relentless Tactical Ultimate 3 Slot OWB Holster. Initially, this option doesn’t look like it offers anything outstanding or that it goes above and beyond for you. What won us over was the great balance between a flexible holster that still maintains your Beretta with just the right amount of retention. The literal flexibility in the leather is nice – offering options for open carry or the ability to be concealed under a shirt or jacket. This feature also offers room for rail space and accessories you may want to add on to the 92A1; and, let’s be honest here, you will want to. There’s also flexibility in the carry style and height. It may not be molded like the DeSantis option, nor does it have the precision stitching, but it does let you adjust the retention as much as you want to with a belt while still staying very comfortable. That wide back panel behind the Beretta will protect your pistol from sweat and grime during long afternoons of wear, and you won’t feel any metal poking into your side.
