In most cases, searching for the perfect pairing of an optic and scope mount can be pretty easy, when we’re talking about a one inch tube. If we bump it up to 30mm scopes, it can be a little more tricky to find the right mount online. That’s why we’ve compiled this review of the best 30mm scope mounts for the money. We had an overall winner in our testing, which we’ve listed at the end for our readers.
There are some benefits that come with 30mm tubes over one inch tubes. The main positive aspect is that a larger tube means more surface area for rings to grip onto. This can be a big game changer for tactical firearms with a lot of fire power and heavy recoil. However, this makes it especially important to find a scope mount that will have the most secure hold. Otherwise, you’ll have a domino effect of problems that will, ultimately, destroy your accuracy. That’s why we’ve taken the time to find the best of the best for you, so you don’t have to risk wasting your money on a 30mm scope mount that will fall apart in the line of fire. We’ve covered a range of budgets within this review, so whether you only have a little cash to spare, or a nice paycheck to spend, you’ll find the right option for you!
Materials – The UTG 30mm 2pc Medium Profile Picatinny/Weaver Rings are a set of aircraft grade aluminum alloy rings that have been machined and anodized in a matte, black finish. Each ring has a pair of retention screws, to lock your scope in place, and a simple hex screw to secure the mounts to your Picatinny rail. The kit has a tooling wrench included, so there’s nothing else needed to purchase with this set. This inside of both rings has a highly textured grip across the entire surface, so there is a firm grasp between the rings and your expensive and delicate optic.
Performance – The UTG 30mm 2pc Medium Profile Picatinny/Weaver Rings certainly has some pros and cons to them, but they can easily be the right choice for many gunowners. For one, everything you need comes in the kit at a highly affordably price point. The rings themselves are also just as durable as any other aluminum rings you’ll find on the market. The weird “give and take” aspect is that each ring only has two retention screws (you’ll notice that the other options all have three). UTG makes up for this by giving the inside surface of the rings that extra texture, but some may be concerned this will scratch their optic’s tube. The rings won’t cause serious damage, but it’s possible you’ll see a little wear down the road.
What we say – The UTG 30mm 2pc Medium Profile Picatinny/Weaver Rings are the best choice for those who don’t have a lot of money to spend and don’t own a $100 optic. If you use a scope for some hobby hunting or fun on the range, this will be perfect for you.
- Extra texture in rings for secure grip
- Includes all tooling needed
- May leave a small scratch here and there
- Precision Machined from Aircraft-grade Aluminum Alloy with Anodized Black Matte Finish.
- Friendly Hex Screws with Retention Features.
- Full Length Locking Plate to Guarantee Easy Installation and Secure Fit.
Materials – The Weaver Tactical Rings are another set that are constructed of machined, aircraft grade aluminum in an anodized, matte, black finish. Both rings also have a similar hex screw at the base of the mounts, where they attach to your Picatinny rail. Unique to this 30mm scope mount is the six points of contact; there are three retention screws on each ring, so you can feel confident that your scope is secured tightly into place. The inner surface of both rings is smooth, instead of textured, so there’s no chance of your optic’s tube becoming scratched or damaged in any way.
Performance – The Weaver Tactical Rings set certainly step up the game with their six points of retention. If you’re going with a larger scope, it makes sense to also want the additional security. We had some initial concern that the smooth inside of the rings would lead to some slipping and sliding of our scope, but Weaver made a high quality mount that doesn’t leave room for error. Plus, we didn’t have to be concerned about any scratches along the way. We prefer the hexagon shape of the rings, as suppose to a circular one because it’s more ideal in tactical fire. There’s less chance of damage coming to your optic or the mounts themselves.
What we say – The Weaver Tactical Rings are the best choice for gunowners that prefer a two piece set over one piece, and they don’t want there to be a chance of any scratches or damage to their scope.
- Six points of retention
- Protective hexagon shape
- No scratching
- Smooth interior may allow for slipping
- Six Hole Tactical-style Rings
- Tube Diameter- 30 mm
Materials – The CCOP High Profile Rifle Scope Mount Rings are made of T6061 aluminum alloy with a matte, black finish. This is a one piece construction, instead of two separate rings, that attaches to your Picatinny rail. The high profile makes this is a great mount for tactical rifles or rifles that have other top rail accessories, such as flashlights, lasers, or magnifiers. Screws and a wrench are included in the set, so you don’t need to purchase anything else for installation. Each ring has six retention screws for a tight hold on your optic. The entire build is sleek and smooth, and it’s been rigorously tested by the manufacturers for high performance.
Performance – The CCOP High Profile Rifle Scope Mount Rings is the only option within this review that is a one piece mount, and we certainly believe it to be one of the best on the market for 30mm scopes. The construction was very sound during our testing, despite there also being a two inch extension from the base to the front ring mount. This is a great option for AR firearms, and CCOP is a trustworthy brand name on top of it all. Of course, having a single piece construction will limit your rail space, and that may lead you to needing to install side rails or additional ring mounts for accessories.
What we say – The CCOP High Profile Rifle Scope Mount Rings is the best 30mm scope mount for anyone with an AR firearm or a tactical rifle. You’ll have a durable hold on your optic that can resist some intense recoil.
- One piece construction convenient
- Six retention screws
- High profile
- Limits rail space
Materials – The Vortex Optics Tactical 30mm Riflescope Ring can be purchased as a single ring or a pair of mounts for your Picatinny rail. The rings are, of course, made of high quality aluminum in a matte, black, anodized finish. The base of the mount secures in place with a hex screw, and there are three points of retention on each ring. Both the inner and exterior surface of the rings is completely smooth and sleek. These rings have a medium profile. The best part about the Vortex Optics Tactical 30mm Riflescope Ring(s) is that is comes with Vortex Optic’s unconditional lifetime warranty.
Performance – The Vortex Optics Tactical 30mm Riflescope Ring is a nicely designed mount that looks sleek and secure. It is a little strange that you have the option to buy a single ring, but it does offer the opportunity then to have the exact amount of rings your need for any setup you want on your firearm. This can become an expensive investment, but if a certain aesthetic is important to you, Vortex Optics will fulfill that need. The smooth design will keep your scope free of scratches and well protected.
What we say – This option is the best 30mm scope mount for anyone in need of an odd amount of ring mounts, as opposed to an even amount. This is a great way to maintain a certain look to your firearm and your scope.

Our Favorite 30mm Scope Mount
Our favorite 30mm scope mount of the bunch were the Weaver Tactical Rings. It was very difficult to find anything to complain about, when testing them! The aluminum material is very sound, and the flat edges are shaped to take a good beating while still protecting your pricey optics. Having three retention screws on each ring, as opposed to two, is a very important factor, since this isn’t for your basic, one inch tubes. Installation and securing the rings is just as easy as with any other mounts, and they come at a much more affordable price than many other similar options. The Weaver Tactical Rings are a great choice that everyone should look into, whether your optic cost you $50 or $300.
