The purpose of SWGGUN is to develop a series of consensus guidelines for the firearm and toolmark discipline and to disseminate SWGGUN guidelines, studies, and other findings that may be of benefit to the forensic community. The SWG meets twice annually.

SWGGUN Responds to SoFS Request
On April 15, 2011, the Subcommittee on Forensic Science’s Research, Development, Testing & Evaluation (RDT&E) Interagency Working Group (IWG) submitted a list of 25 questions to the SWGGUN regarding foundational issues pertaining to the forensic discipline of Firearms and Toolmark Identification (FA/TM ID). These questions were formulated by the RDT&E IWG after a presentation on the foundations and principles underlying FA/TM ID. This presentation was given by SWGGUN Chair Greg Klees on October 4, 2010. |
